Set-up Technician

Set-up Technician Position

The Set-up Technician position provides daily assistance to the Lead Set-up Technician while performing line operations and line set-ups to assure production objectives are achieved while emphasizing safety, product quality, and efficiency of both setups and production. 

Primary Position Objectives:

  • Assist Lead Set-up Technician with expander set-ups and die changes
  • Verify and obtain the required top and bottom dies and cam for set-up (if needed)
  • Assist Lead Set-up Technician with troubleshooting lines to resolve production problems
  • Assist Lead Set-up Technician in completing daily line inspection and lubrication of equipment (expander, flattener, leveler, etc.)
  • Assist Lead Set-Up Technician with material movement and record keeping (Arbor coils, removal of finished skids from the line, coordinate with Material Handler on material storage)
  • Ensure customer’s specifications and requirements are met as documented on work orders (including part, processing, and packaging requirements)
  • Perform pre-run and in-process inspections to meet customer specifications 
  • Complete required paperwork (work order, inspection sheet, move tags, and coil tags) and accurate labor reporting (scan into and out of jobs, including set up)
  • Familiarity with and strict adherence to all safety hazards prevention methods with assigned equipment lines (Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, PPE, etc.)
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects for production and to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Complete Line Technician Objectives when required (see position description below)
  • Perform other shop duties as assigned
  • Reports to Production Manager and/or Lead Set-Up Technician
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Forklift certification
  • Knowledge of all ISO Procedures and work instructions for operations.
  • Knowledge and ability to set up and run all types of high speed and/or general fab expanders and secondary equipment
  • Knowledge of material types and selection for the work order (type and gauge of material)
  • Ability to read and understand calipers, micrometer, and/or tape measure to measure part dimensions and thickness
     

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Intermittent standing, walking, and unassisted lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Good communication with co-workers and supervision
  • Strong work ethic and ability to solve problems
